ChatReact

ChatReact is a browser extension for Twitch streamers. A keyboard shortcut posts a message about the page you are viewing, such as its title and link, to your own Twitch chat and pins it. You compose the message once in the settings with placeholders like {tab.title} and {tab.url}, and the extension shortens it to fit Twitch’s 500-character limit when needed.

Platforms: Chrome extension, Firefox add-on
Product page: desertice.tech/products/chatreact

Who it’s for: Twitch streamers who want to share links from their browser in their own chat

  • One keyboard shortcut (Alt+Shift+P by default) sends and pins a message about the current tab
  • Message templates with {tab.title}, {tab.url}, {tab.domain}, and {channel} placeholders and a live preview
  • Fits Twitch’s 500-character limit by stripping tracking parameters, then shortening the title
  • Toolbar badges show sent, error, auth-needed, and disabled states
  • Automatic pin retry for up to 15 seconds without double-posting
  • Works in Chrome, Edge, Brave, and other Chromium browsers plus Firefox desktop
  • Disconnect deletes your Twitch token and asks Twitch to revoke it
  • A Chromium browser (Chrome, Edge, Brave, etc.) or Firefox desktop
  • A Twitch account to connect
  • The keyboard shortcut only works while the browser window is focused; shortcuts must include Ctrl or Alt (or Cmd on macOS)
  1. Install ChatReact from the Chrome Web Store (also for Edge, Brave, and other Chromium browsers) or Firefox Add-ons
  2. Click the ChatReact icon in the toolbar and choose Connect Twitch
  3. Open Settings from the same menu and write your message using placeholders like {tab.title} and {tab.url}
  4. Go to any page and press the shortcut (Alt+Shift+P by default); the message appears in your chat and is pinned
  1. Change the shortcut in Chrome at chrome://extensions/shortcuts (the Change shortcut button in settings takes you there)
  2. In Firefox, use Record shortcut in ChatReact’s settings, or go to about:addons, click the gear icon, and choose Manage Extension Shortcuts
  3. Use the settings preview to see exactly what will be sent before you use it live
  • Toolbar badge ✓ means the message was sent and pinned
  • Badge ! means something went wrong; hover the icon to see why
  • Badge AUTH means your Twitch login needs renewing; open the ChatReact menu and click Reconnect
  • Badge OFF means ChatReact is switched off; right-click the icon and tick Enabled
  • Click Disconnect to delete your Twitch token and ask Twitch to revoke it; you can also remove ChatReact under Connections in your Twitch settings

Check the badge doesn’t say OFF, and make sure ChatReact has a shortcut assigned. If another extension already uses the default, ChatReact’s shortcut may be empty and you need to pick a different one.

Open the ChatReact menu and connect your account.

“Message too long even after shortening.”

Section titled ““Message too long even after shortening.””

Twitch allows up to 500 characters. ChatReact removes tracking parameters from the link and shortens the page title; if it is still too long, the link alone or your template’s fixed text is too long, so shorten the template text.

The message is in your chat but couldn’t be pinned. ChatReact retries for up to 15 seconds and never posts the message twice; you can pin it by hand from Twitch chat.

Twitch blocked the message, for example because of your channel’s AutoMod or blocked-terms settings. Hover over the icon to see the reason Twitch gave.

Your channel is in a Twitch Shared Chat session, and Twitch shows messages in every channel in the session.

Section titled “Who is responsible for the links ChatReact posts?”

You are. ChatReact posts whatever tab you have open when you press the shortcut, and you are solely responsible for every link and message it posts to your chat.

No. ChatReact is published by DesertIce and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Twitch Interactive, Inc.
